Coronavirus: Donald Trump launches 15-day plan but admits US faces recession

US president Donald Trump has launched a 15-day plan aimed at halting the spread of the coronavirus – but admits the country could be heading for a recession.

The guidelines urge all older Americans and those with underlying health conditions to stay home and away from other people.

It also recommends that everyone in the country works from home, avoids bars and restaurants and avoids social gatherings or groups of more than 10 people.

Speaking from the White House briefing room, Mr Trump said the US could be battling the virus until “July or August” and maybe “longer than that.”
