US President, Donald Trump said he was hopeful the US response would help COVID-19 deaths in the country stay below 100,000, Washington DC, Friday.

“Hopefully we’re going to come in below that 100,000 lives lost, which is a horrible number. Nevertheless, it’s a horrible thing. Could have been stopped. Should have been stopped at the source, but it wasn’t,” said Trump.

According to data compiled by Johns Hopkins University, the US has registered 1,103,461 cases of the coronavirus with 64,943 deaths. These numbers make the country the worst coronavirus-hit in the world.
